22 Tips for Parents
Assalaamu’alekum Dear Brothers/Sisters -
Here are some great 22 tips that every Muslim parents should read and keep it handy in their mind,
- Take parenting more seriously than you would a full-time job
- Reduce or change work hours and exchange them for time with the family
- Read the Qur’an, understanding its meaning, for five minutes every day
- Attend a weekly Halaqa
- Respect your teen
- Take an interest in what they do
- Be aware of problems and address them straightforwardly
- "Date" your teenager
- Don’t just be your teen’s parent, be his or her partner
- Build a Masjid in your home
- Don’t practice "men’s Islam"
- Establish an Islamic library and choose a librarian
- Take them out…..to Islamic activities
- Move to a racially and religiously mix neighborhood in your city
- Help teens start their own youth group
- Establish a TV-free evening and monitor TV watching in general
- Have weekly family meetings
- Have "Halal Fun night" once a month
- Provide the right role models - What would Abu Bakr have done?
- Read books on Positive Parenting
- Get them married early
- Last but not least-Make Dua
